Cancerbackup kiosks scoop Best Use of Technology award

Cancerbackup picked up the award for the Best Use of Technology at the Charity Times UK Charity Awards 2005. The category awards "charities who demonstrate the effective use of IT to aid a charity through its operations."

The award was given to Cancerbackup for their touch screen kiosks, which will be piloted in hospitals this year. The kiosk site, built by Jamkit, aims to extend the reach of cancer information by acting as an extension of the Cancerbackup website. All the information sections are available including 4,000 pages of evidence-based cancer information and over 1,200 cancer Q&As.

The award was presented to Cancerbackup's Online Development Manager Lucy Ashman, during a ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

About the UK Charity Awards

The UK Charity Awards are designed to recognise and reward excellence in the management and co-ordination of all charitable activities.
