HelpAge International Win ‘Best Use of Technology’
The judges were impressed by the way the website used technology to bring together disparate groups of people with low levels of access to information. The site was set up to provide a wider range of information on ageing and development in a clearer, more accessible way. A key aim of the project was to make sure that the website was accessible to a global audience and specific user situations. One of the issues was that many users in remote areas were using outdated or recucled equipment and were finding it hard to access and share essential information.Commenting on the win, Caroline Dobbing from HelpAge International said, 'We are very proud of the website and delighted that it has been recognised as a best practice example to others. It is important for us as a charity to measure the impact of what we do. This award confirms that we have achieved our aim of ensuring the site is accessible to all, including those in developing countries where HelpAge International works.
'Jamkit worked with us to identify exactly what we wanted and then worked out a way of achieving that for us. They essentially shaped the website around us.'
Miles Waller, Business Director at Jamkit said, 'Obviously we're delighted that HelpAge International has won this award and it is great for us to see them get this recognition with a site we developed with them. We see our role as a partner who brings the technology and expertise to help our clients to achieve their goals. It's about building sites that are truly useful tools for the organisation.'
