Jamkit invited to speak at the Institute of Analysts and Programmers Symposium 2005

Jamkit will be involved in the forthcoming Institute of Analyst and Programmers (IAP) Symposium being held at Trinity House, London on 10th March 2005.

Seb Bacon, Technical Director of Zope consultancy Jamkit, has been invited to share his knowledge and expertise of Open Source Software (OSS). Seb will explain the movement and its detractors by examining its historical roots and the current business and political environment in which OSS has to operate, including the current patents debate. Finally he hopes to summarise the benefits and risks associated with Open Source and its various proprietary models.

Seb is a fervent advocate of Open Source for the charity sector and in government. He is a trustee of the London Advice Services Alliance. A co-founder of both the 'Social Software' and 'ZopeUK' advocacy associations, Seb has played an active role in the development of the Open Source application server Zope.

Seb Bacon comments:

"Jamkit has used and contributed to OSS since 2000. Increasingly, the wider technical community is considering OSS both for software and as a development model. We believe it is a powerful force for change in the industry that cannot be ignored. I look forward to sharing and discussing my views with members of the IAP at their Symposium"

The symposium begins at 10:00am on 10th March 2005. Admission is £100 for non IAP members.
